[net.micro.cpm] SIG/M and CPMUG disks

From: Frank J. Wancho <FJW@mit-mc>

In recent messages from Rick Conn and others, you have seen mention of
the pending move of the files from the CPM; directory on MC to its new
and permanent home on the SIMTEL20 (10.0.0.74). Most of that move has
already been done, except for transferring some of the new files that
have recently been announced. The actual announcement of the change
is being defered until the SIMTEL20 comes up full-time, or on 30 Sep,
whichever comes first. (30 Sep is the last day of the MACSYMA
Consortium's existence - the group which sponsors the MIT-MC machine.)

In the meantime, we have augmented the collection on the SIMTEL20 by
uploading all of the SIG/M and CPMUG files that were available as of
last December. This includes the SIG/M volumes 1 to 85, and CPMUG
volumes 1 to 54 and 78 to 90 (55-77 are duplicates of SIG/M volumes).
All of these files will also be available along with the MC:CPM; files
via ANONYMOUS FTP (with any non-null password). All of the files were
arbitrarily uploaded as ITS Binary files to make the job easier for
our operators who didn't have to then guess the file type. I will be
processing those files with a utility from Bill Westfield that will
convert those files that are really pure ASCII back into ASCII files.

Since we bought those disks, both SIG/M and CPMUG have released many
more volumes. What I would like to do is arrange for someone to
*LOAN* us those new releases, preferably in NorthStar DSDD ("quad")
format, but we can convert from the standard 8" IBM SSSD release (if
and when I can get my DJDMA controller working again!). We will
return them as soon as they are uploaded for the rest of this
community to access. You can reach me by return mail, or call me at
915-591-7266, and I will call you back.
