[net.micro.cpm] KAYPRO vs. MORROW vs. others

goutal@decvax.UUCP (Kenneth G. "Kenn" Goutal) (07/29/83)

Didn't somebody do a survey of one or the other of these fairly recently?
Are the results available?
In any case, I would appreciate comments on either of these machines
in terms of general suitability (i.e. any terms you like)
and in particular for word processing (using Wordstar).
Also interested in cost and expandability.

Am interested in behalf of my nephew, who will be doing his thesis this year.
He is not a computer type, nor will his thesis be on computers --
he just felt that the $500 it was going to cost him for typing services
could be better spent, in this day and age.

Thanks... -- Kenn Goutal (decvax!goutal)

my experience is that Kaypro is marginally better than morrow,
although they are pretty comparable and it dcdepends in part on
what model of which you get.

for complete novices, the Osborne documentation and particularly
the Osborne St arter Pac with tape tu torials adn flip charts
beats hell out of either in getting them going, although
engineeringwise there's some qhestion of whether the osborne is
equivalent to the others...
