[net.micro.cpm] Request from another harried man with 400 blocks of mail.

POURNE@mit-mc@sri-unix.UUCP (08/30/83)

From: Jerry E. Pournelle <POURNE@mit-mc>

My apologies to all regarding cc's. One quick explanation and I
hope to get out of your hair. The old RMAIL sent no carbons
unless you wanted it to; the "R" command simply sent to the
sender for reply. Alas, babyl does the opposite; unless you
suppress the cc: field, (I guess by doing 1R rather than R,
which was the way to GET cc's under RMAIL) you get cc's to
everyone whether they want it or not.
Worse, at 300 baud if you're not typing ahead, you'll
never get done, and often I type fast, not looking, then the
headers have scrolled off the screen (becasue babyl leaves about
half the old mesage up and give the other half for a working
buffer on Reply).
So: my apologies to all for filling everyon's boxes with
replies intelligible only to one or two.
I will in future try to anser less in total, and watch
headers; and my thanks for the paitence of many of you.
	JEP
