I have an Osborne I and the Osborne modem (300 baud). I also have access
to a RACAL-VADIC 1200 baud modem. I have the .com file for mdm712 and also
Irv Hoff's .doc (etc.) files about mdm712. I have seen notes that say
"I use mdm714 to talk to mainframes...". I can't tell how to do this
from Hoff's documentation.
I would like to find out how to talk to UNIX from my Osborne at
1200 baud using mdm712 and the RACAL-VADIC modem. I have used AMCALL which
came with the 300 baud modem sucessfully, but 300 baud leaves a lot to be
desired. Two specific question:
	1. The mdm712 documentation refers to several control characters
(eg CNTL-^ and CNTL-@) which are NOT available from my Osborne
keyboard. What patche(s) to mdm712 are there to fix this?
(I assume that one must use CNTL-^ to send command to UNIX.)
	2. I have also successfully used the RACAL-VADIC from a remote site
to call UNIX with a VT-100 look alike. I know how to manually
connect to UNIX, but the mdm712 documentation does not tell
how to connect using the RACAL modem, although it alludes
to the fact (?) that mdm712 can be used with the RACAL modem.
What is the sequence of mdm712 commands which must be used to
contact UNIX from the Osborne through the RACAL modem?
Any an all information you can supply is most welcome. Thanks.
