From: Mark Becker <CENT.MBECK%MIT-OZ@MIT-MC.ARPA> In response to jpm@bnl'l s message, I haven't received January's issue of Byte either (I'm in Maryland). BUT I SURE HAVE SEEN IT IN THE STORES!! EVEN THE GIANT GROCERY HAS IT ON THE SHELF!!! Ah, for the days when being a subscriber meant you got your issue before the stores or corner newstand did.... Mark -------

I just got mine . But I had the same problem last month (DEC issue) and I actually called BYTE subscription. The lady who answered my call said that their policy is not to do anything until about 15 days after the month (I forgot the exact number of days she said). Call back after the 15th, in essential.. I have been thinking of canceling my subscriptin and just go out to buy one on the 1st of every month. Maybe we all should do that.

From: Jerry E. Pournelle <POURNE@mit-mc> The problem is the Post Office, which in Dec/Jan treats BYTE like a catlogue, which, I suppose, it resembles... We make more from copies sold in stores than from subs (I think, I may be wrong there; marketing doesn't talk to contributing editors much). But heck, I can't even get copies sent first class on time. Sigh. JEP
