The Grateful Dead are alive and well. Last night they played at the
Oakland Auditorium, and my roving reporter (alas, this is not first
hand) sez the show was hot.
Garcia walked onto stage to thunderous cheers sporting a solid red
t-shirt. His pony tail was gone, and he was looking energetic and
ready to play. (A side note, he was arraigned 2/15 for posession
of just over a gram of cocaine and heroin. He has asked to be placed
in a drug therapy program. The judge will rule on Jer's eligibility
for such a deal on 3/19. If accepted, and he completes the program,
charges will be dropped.) Reports he was looking perky and healthy,
although still considerably paunchy.
