Yep -- my IOBYTE implementation works (couldn't be absolutely sure at 0400 when things were kind of stupid out). Now, gentlesirs and madams -- what do I do with it? Neat, I guess to list a document to printer or screen, but I could do that anyway! What neat, wonderful, otherwise impractical/impossible tricks can I do with an IOBYTE that I couldn't do before? (The Toad, for some reason, doesn't seem surprised that such strange redirection is occurring in its innards - computers can be so complacent sometimes!) I think I have succeeded in implementing the IOBYTE on my Decision I. I adapted the original North Star segments of Morrow's CBIOS&, and it seems to work just fine (though haven't figured out many applications for the additional capability yet). Gotta fire up GENERIC KERMIT and try out the IOBYTE configuration to see if that application works. Any Decision I owners out there interested -- yell, and I'll work up the patches in a document. (But give me a few days.) Still no luck on adapting the BIOS to run soft sector 5 1/4" floppy drives (as opposed to the N* hard sector ones it was written for) - but I'm told I'll need a newer (Ver. 2.5) DJ/DMA PROM and am inquiring about that through my vendor now. I'll keep you posted. David Kirschbaum Toad Hall (ABN.ISCAMS@USC-ISID)
