[net.music] Space music

Though we don't get "Music from the Hearts of Space" on our NPR outlet in
Portland (that I am aware of), there are two good sources for the genre.
One is "Mid-day Modulations", a local show from 1215 to 130 pm Mo-Th on KOAP.
The other is the Equinox portion of "Stranger than Fiction", from 330 to 6am
Friday mornings on KBOO. On either of these shows, you can hear things from
Eno, Jade Warrior, Jarret, Popul Vuh, Michael Garrison, Vangelis, Do Ah, and
various other sources too numerous to mention.

Does any one know who published the discography associated with
"Music from the Hearts of Space?" I saw a copy once but don't remember
who the compiler or publisher was.

Also, has anyone seen either of the following albums by Tangerine Dream:

		Electronic Meditations (~1972, Virgin Int'l)
Music from the 21st Century	(~1973, Virgin Int'l)

The Phonolog claims that they are still in print, although I haven't succeeded
yet in getting a copy from any distributor. These are the earliest TD albums
that I know of, all the later ones are still available, although Virgin
seems to have been sold yet another time.

"Music From The Heart of Space"

This has been mentioned before, but I think it bears repeating.
If you haven't caught this radio show you are missing out on
some really fine contemporary music. It runs for a straight
hour of uninterrupted bliss. Really fresh work from little
known artists. The show consists of a majority of electronic
music mixed with some beautiful effects and orchestration. It
is co-produced in San Fran. by Steve Hill and Anna (someone,
forgive me I can't remember her last name). It is a syndicated
show and if your local National Public Radio station doesn't have
it you should give them a call and ask about it. I first heard
it this past summer, it used to come on at 2am, but it was worth
staying up for and it is beautiful music to fall off to sleep
by. It's a very relaxing, mellow show and seems to attract a
wide and varying audience( ie. strictly classical types and
stuck on jazz types ). So if you get a chance give a listen,
I think you'll find it worth your while.
