Well, after UPS destroyed my MD-2 system and terminal I replaced it with a new and (hopefully) updated MD-2 and MDT60 terminal. Now for the fun. Apparently Morrow in an attempt to make it easier on the user (????) has placed all communication port changes with regard to baud rate in software. Everything is selected from the SETUP program. There is only one problem, it doesn't support 19.2k baud for the terminal (which used to be selected by dip-switches on my old model) and I like to run at that speed. This is very strange since their terminal, MDT60, supports 19.2k baud. Does anyone out there know of a way to get it to talk at that speed (like a software kludge or something)? Also, a word to the wise. Morrow in their design changes on the MD-2 have made it impossible to use with FREEDOM-100 terminals. This is appar- ently due to a change in the communications protocall. This is not very amusing considering that MORROW used to sell FREEDOM terminals with their systems. Lengthy discussions with their technical people reveal that even they didn't know about this (they still don't think it is true). One wonders how many other terminals they claim to support really don't work?? The most amusing thing about it is that a terminal that doesn't work properly can crash the system and make you think that it isn't the terminal doing it. Could MORROW be going the way of IBM?? Still it is one of the best CP/M systems you can bye today for the money. Joseph Slone New Mexico Tech
