[net.micro.cpm] Static Damage: Warning and SOS

JMSK@Mit-Mc.ARPA (12/09/84)

I have an H-19 with a detached (read "hacksawed") keyboard. My desk
chair is somewhat staticky. Today I got a small spark from my hand to
one of the screws underneath the keyboard, and subsequently lost the
use of the space key and of lower case characters. The keypad puts
out just numbers (I have a Super-19 ROM also), which suggests to me
that it is permanently "shifted".

WARNING: Keep a humidifier or vaporizer going during the winter
in the room with your computer equipment.

SOS: Does anyone out there have any helpful suggestions ???
It seems that I zapped some of the keyboard decoder logic. When I
replace the original short ribbon cable, the termianl just sits there
typing away (mostly "Z"'s ) by itself.

And I was just about to order the Northwest Digital Graphics board...

						Thanks.
