[net.music] Mozart query

Sorry - can't figure out mailing address. The Mozart piece enquired
about (twinkle twinkle little star) is variations on "Ah, vous
dirais-je, Maman?" - it was featuyred on the Swingle Singers "Anyone for
Mozart" LP of twenty or so years ago. BTW Ernest Dohnanyi's "Variations
on a Nursery Theme" for piano and orchestra also uses the same theme.

"Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman" is, indeed, set as a series of piano
variations by Mozart, and they are most charming. Not easy to play,
either. They have probably been done up in arrangements for other
instruments. There may be versions by other composers, but I've not
heard them.
