MARC will be for (I think) the 68000 only and will be bundled with a machine. Craig Durland hp-cvd!craig

If you're talking about the MD-11 system from MORROW, there is a phone number for their California office (415) 430-1970. I called recently since I'm having trouble with my hard disk. For the Boston area the nearest official Morrow service place is near Nashua NH. They're Computer Data Services (or Systematic Solutions) (603) 673-7375 The Meeting Place Mall, Amherst, NH 03031. They might be able to help you. NET: {harpo, allegro, bellcore, ihnp4}!inmet!ada-uts!cindy ----------

If anyone has an old (1.5 - 2 years) Morrow MD-11 that has troubles with the hard disk, you might be interested in knowing that there is new distribution software out that is more sofisticated about bad sectors on the hard disk. My troubles were caused by personal Pearl trying to write to a bad sector. When the service rep loaded with the new software, the sectors were properly remapped, and the machine works like a charm! There is also an upgrade for some PAL chips, and my rep recommended a new fan (the old models tend to over heat). So you might want to look into this before you run into these problems, so that you don't loose any thing if it happens. That's right, my backup is worthless... I read a review of a checkbook program for CPM-80 called "The Smart Checkbook" from Softquest Inc., Vienna, VA (703) 281-1621. Features included printing the checks and addressing envelopes (I think) as well as very flexible budget/account categories allowing checks to be split across several categories; and it was supposed to be fast. The biggest drawback was the price ($139), but I seriously thought about buying it until my VT-180 (DEC "robin") died. Now I'm thinking of an Amiga as a better way to spend the repair money.

In defense of Jay Sage, I would note that: 1) The original definition of the program error byte (0 if error, non-zero if OK) made no sense intuitively and was confusing as well as inflexible. 2) His upgraded CPR has never been publicly distributed. Jay gave me a copy, with instructions to not give it out to anyone else. The CPR allows you to have both an extended command processor and an error handler, instead of forcing you to choose between them. He also fixed some bugs in the original CPR.

SCO has a rather nice word processor named Lyrix which is quite malleable... I should think it would be possible (and quite easy) to rebind the keys to emulate WordStar. We've been running it locally for about a year with no problems (on a Xenix system) and the software is available for everything from Tandy 6000's to Vaxen. It is, however, not cheap.
