[net.micro.cpm] C128 CPM QUESTIONS

pierson@AMSAA.ARPA (CPT PIERSON) (10/10/86)

Hello All,
I have two questions.

1. How can I speed up the printing process using Word Star and a C1526
printer? Please don't flame me for the printer the price was right a couple
of years ago. Currently the printer receives a line, prints it, seems to
think, receives another line, prints, ad infinitem. Is there a way to
install Word Star or the CPM + to tell it the printer has a buffer? If so
how big is the buffer?

2. Also how can I receive an update to the CPM + system to recognize the
modem port without using a modem? When I sent for the utility disks from
Commodore (In January) I didn't get the updated version. I have seen the
update files in the simtel pd but have no way of getting them down. I don't
have any friends with a C64 and cpm or any with a C128. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Jim

I don't think you can. The problem isn't the printer; it's the way WordStar
prints. This is about my only beef with WordStar - I think it prints better
than any other word processor, but it takes forever to do it. I usually start
WordStar printing and then go have a beer. (I use it on an Apple //e. Word-
Star, not the beer.)
