[net.micro.cpm] TVX, Wordstar for C128, New BIOS for C128

prindle@nadc.ARPA (10/10/86)

In response to Mr. Fleig and Mr. Pierson:

1. I believe [SIMTEL20] PD:<MSDOS.TVX-EDITOR> is the latest (with EMACS
emulation) version of TVX. If not, it certainly is more recent than the
C128 compatible version. No doubt much fatter too.

2. Wordstar printing slowness on C128: It doesn't go slow on my 128 and
printer. I followed the recommendations on speedup in file [SIMTEL20]
PD:<CPM.C128>WORDSTAR.IQF (squeezed). Perhaps, elimination of the delays
as indicated therein also helps the printer, I dunno. But my Blue-Chip
printer buffer (4K) gets filled up faster than it can empty. It may have
to do with the fact that Wordstar trys to service the printer while also
letting you edit - cutting the editing delays down probably speeds up the
printer. Try the patches in WORDSTAR.IQF and see if they don't help.

3. New C128 BIOS. The file [SIMTEL20] PD:<CPM.C128>C128-NEW.IRV contains the
instructions for "getting it down", this assuming you have a modem and some
software to transfer files (xmodem or kermit) from your host to the 128 in
either 128 or 64 mode. If you don't have this, you're not ready for
running a modem from CP/M anyway.

Sincerely,
Frank Prindle
