For those of you who really want to know: According to The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, A long time (i.e., 1,000,000 years ago) the Celestial Host landed on Earth and gave humanity a dormant gene for beneficial mutations (i.e., mutant super-powers). This gene complex has recently become active and thus, we have more superheros (and, of course, villains) than you can shake an armadillo at. There are at most several million mutants in the Marvel Earth, but very few have exhibited super-powers. Most are just like you and me (and we are all mutants in the Eyes of the Lord). According to the Kree Supreme Intelligence in Avengers #96, "Any human could have done what you did, Rick Jones." What Rick Jones did was create superheros out of his imagination, and then paralyze every Kree and Skrull in the entire universe. Remember, Franklin Richards doesn't have *a* super-power, he has SUPER-Power. That is to say, to him, "galaxies are mere toys." Phoenix (Jean Grey) had some of the same stuff, but was not capable of controlling her powers. (Again, from the Handbook: "He [Mastermind] was driven insane by the knowledge of the contradictory truths of the Universe, the same that drove Jean Grey to become Dark Phoenix." I personally disagree, but...) On a slightly different note: Is everyone as disgusted as I am that Phoenix is going to resurrect herself, or whatever? I mean, Jean is DEAD! She died a noble death, and she should remain dead. Oh well, I hope CC knows what he's doing. I become, The Demolished Hacker c/o Kenny Hirsch duke!unc!kh kh.unc@UDel-Relay Chapel Hill, N.C.
