[net.comics] Howie Chaykin

From: Mike Ciaraldi <ciaraldi>
Right, Howie did the Fafhrd & Gray Mouser comics (based on Fritz Lieber's
characters, of course). They originally premiered in an issue of
Wonder Woman (just after #200, I think).
Chaykin is about to premiere "American Flagg" for First Comics,
which is set in the near future. I got this info from Joe Staton,
who was also at a con in Rochester. He also describes "Jon Sable" as
"the Mike Grell comic for people who hate Mike Grell comics."
While on the subject of First Comics, Joe admits to a mistake in the
first issue of "E-Man"-- the character Teddy Q (described as Einstein's
Koala in an earlier message), should not have appeared in the flashback
covering E-Man's origin, since he was not introduced until issue 8 of
the original Charlton series.

Last but not least--Is anyone else waiting for Chaykin's illustrated
version of the second half of Bester's "The Stars My Destination"?
According to an interview in "Comics Fandom's Forum" #10 (formerly
"LOC"), the art was finished years ago, but is embroiled in the legal
stuff concerning Baronet (the publisher) going out of business.
I have a slipcase and Volume I that's been sitting forlornly on
the shelf for years....
