Does any body know why the comic books containing Faf and the Mouser were discontinued after issue 5 (6?)? The series itself was called, "Sword of Sorcery", and put out by DC comics. I believe the artist was Howard Chaykin. The writer was Denny o'Neil, perchance. The comics were out in 1973. How many of you have heard of it at all? the ----Wraith----

As to why the series was cancelled is anyone's guess. Since it was pulled at issue no. five, any accurate sales figures could only have been tabulated for the first issue at the time of cancellation. The contents of the Swords of Sorcery series are as briefly follows: #1) "The Price of Pain-Ease" adapted by Denny O'Neil with a cover by Micheal Kaluta, pencils by Howard Chaykin, and inks by the Crusty Bunkers (including Neal Adams) #2) "Theives House" adaptation, O'Neil, Chaykin, Crusty Bunkers #3) "Betrayal", original story by O'Neil Chaykin pencils, Berni Wrightson, Mike Kaluta, Walt Simonson inks #4) "The Cloud of Hate" adaptation, O'neil, Chaykin, and a mess of uncredited inkers. "The Prophecy" O'Neil original story, art by Walt Simonson #5) ""The Sunken Land" adaptation, O'Neil, Simonson, Al Milgrom inks "The Mouse Alone", original story by George Effinger pencils by Jim Starlin, inks by Al Milgrrom In case anyone doesn't know what this is all about, and cares, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser are creations of Fritz Lieber and are quite possibly the best sword/sorcery characters ever. There is a pretty good article on this series in BEM #36. BEM is a British based comics magazine along the lines of Comics Journal, but mainly concerned with British comics. It is now available in U.S. from New Media Publishing, Tampa, Florida. I've kinda had it with sword and sorcery type comics, but a good adaptation of Fritz Leiber material could change my mind. P.S. This series was initially previewed in Wonder Woman #202.
