[net.comics] BADGER #2

armstron@sjuvax.UUCP (12/02/83)

Last week I bought issue number two of BADGER. After waiting four
and half months (about) for the supposedly bi-monthly comic, I must say, I
was somewhat disappointed.
The book consisted of 3 independent stories. The first one continues
where BADGER #1 left off. While it is good, and I must say I certainly did
enjoy it, (even if it was kind of corny) it was simply too short. The
moment the action really starts to move ... the story gets continued. Oh
well, what are you gonna' do ?
The second story was equally entertaining, but in a somewhat
different fashion. Through this story we get a special insight to the
BADGER as a unique individual who can remarkably connect with the world
around him.
Lastly, the third story, while its writting was good, was penciled
by a different artist (whose name I can't remember...sorry) who, I think
does not really have the ability to draw the BADGER well. (He made the
BADGER look like some sort of radioactive mutant)
Even though I was somewhat disappointed, I personally think that
BADGER is still worth buying. Replies are welcome.

Has anyone read Grendel yet? I thought the first issue was pretty good but
I've haven't got a glimpse of issue two.

Well, I liked it! I thought that this issue of the BADGER had a little more
story, the artwork was fine, and I enjoyed all three stories (those that are
unfortunate enough to know me, realize that I like the GROANER the best). I
still find their bloody version of violence to be somewhat disconcerting, but
then that's life in the big city.

As for Grendel #2. Not bad. I still expect someone to walk up to Grendel
and say "Gee Speed Racer, what can we do now?" (those of you that lived
throught Speed Racer as kids will understand what I mean, I mean, he DOES
look like Speed Racer!). Still, it is an interesting story, and I plan to
keep buying it.

Boy, do I LIKE the alternate comics. Take THAT Jim Shooter!
