[net.comics] First Comics Posters

You may have seen the posters advertised by First Comics.
They are selling limited edition American Flagg and E-Man
posters for $6.50 each, signed and numbered by the artist,
Chaykin and Staton, respectively.

I sent off my money for one of each a few weeks ago.
In about two weeks I received a refund check for the AF poster,
since all 2000 were sold out. The next day I receive my
E-Man poster, which was #51 outof 2000.

This must prove something, but I'm not sure what.

Does anyone know where I can get an American Flagg poster?

Also, let us not forget George Perez's masterpiece of art (at
least I think so) poster. Of course I mean his New Teen Titan's poster.
It's pretty obvious that George put alot of time, effort, and thought
into its layout, design, and artwork. BRAVO George, and thank you.
Secondly, although Frank Miller's RONIN poster had that
magnificient, unique style that he so caringly puts into every issue
of Ronin, I felt it was too limited in content. I would much rather
have seen him do something like one of the wrap-around covers we are
graced with each issue.
I welcome any comments or observations concerning my opinions
on these pieces of art.

If it is true that the posters are sent out in random order,
I feel a lot better.
It's bad enough that everyone is praising American Flagg to the
skies while ignoring E-Man (well it seems that way sometime),
it had seemed to me that the only explanantion for a 20-to-1
ratio of sales on the posters was people stocking up on
the AF for speculation.

Not that I don't like Chaykin's work, I do.
I have a copy of Star*Reach #1 with Cody Starbuck, after all.
But I like Staton, too, and he's too underrated.

Next month--E-Man meets Lord Chaos!

E-Man meets Lord Chaos? Feh. I even seem to remember them saying in some
First Comics lettercol that one nice thing about First Comics was that
there didn't have to be a "First Comics Universe". Now someday I suppose
we'll have to look forward to a replay of Reed and Sue's wedding on
Cynosure...

That usally doesn't mean a thing. Most sellers of "limited" items do
not send them out in a linear manner. They just grab the next one
from the nearest box.
