I have also just finished reading the first issue of Secret Wars. I
didn't like it either. I can't remember the last time I liked a Jim
Shooter book. I can't remember liking anything he has done for Marvel.

All this consistensy nitpicking seems like just that. I don't think
you can realistically expect a project involving as many writers and
artists as this one to totally avoid some goofs.

But I didn't really expect to like Secret Wars. Coyote is a different
matter. It started out fine. When Steve Leigolas(sp?) took over the art,
things actually seemed to improve. The last two issues have been,
well, ordinary.

In fact, everything Marvel is doing seems to range between bad and
ordinary. The X-men have never recovered from the loss of John Bryne.
His FF stuff is ok but nothing special (of course, the FF was horrible
before he took over). But Alpha Flight, excepting the Puck issue, has
been a waste. Kazar has steadily lost ground for the last 3-4 issues.
Daredevil is hardly the same book without Frank Miller.

I can't think of a single Marvel title that I really look forward to .
Maybe Dreadstar, this isn't my favorite Jim Starlin stuff, but it's
the only Starlin stuff around.

Bummer.
