My Sacrifice to the mysterious first character eater Fellow NETers, I am shocked. It has now been over two weeks since Spider-man's new costume has hit the stands (in this part of the country anyway) and I have seen no mention of it anywhere in this forum. I was waiting to see if my reactions to the new suit were unique but I will volenteer my opinions and let you all flame me. Just give me a minute to find my abestos/unstable molecule uniform. I have read the Amazing SM, Spectacular SM, and Marvel Team-up where Spider comes out of the big thingamagig with the new uniform so I have seen what the uniform can do (so far). First, the actual design. I have thought for a long time that Spider would be a lot more effective if he looked scarier. Not quite the Batman but something that would really un-nerve a crook (besides someone sticking to walls and shooting a web). This new suit fits the bill quite well. It looks spooky in the shadows but menacing in the light. I'd heard that the spider design on his chest and back were going to be red but Marvel decided white would be better. As much as I like the new design, I don't think I like the "magic" properties this suit has. From what I've seen, the suit can cause a rift to store whatever Spider has to carry, "spit" cameras or whatever on command, ooze across the floor to come to Peter on command, even hide as normal clothes that will change to the uniform when Peter wants to web-sling. Now, one of the things I always loved about Spider-Man was that he is a down-to-earth crime fighter. After reading other heroes on their cosmic jaunts, I always found it a pleasure to read Spider ( and Dare-Devil) fighting mobsters and things I could relate to. I guess I don't like Spider getting something that will solve one of his greatest problems: What mthe heck to do with a jacket and new shoes when you're off to fight the Kingpin? I'd welcome other opinions. One last note. Did anyone else appreciate the last comment in the latest Marvel Team-Up? I loved it when Spider-Man wondered why Dare-Devil didn't comment on his new suit. Nice Touch. Scotty

2 points: 1) I like it, but the only major thing I care enough to yell about is if they try to remove Stern as writer, and they haven't. 2) It can't last long anyway, unless they want to change all the Spiderman Blue & Red merchandise out there. I don't like the idea of Spider-Man having a "magic" costume. Did you see what that thing can do? It's ok for Dr. Strange and the Valkyrie to change clothes with a wave of the hand, but not ol' man-in-the-street Parker. He should have to wear his costume under his clothes and get it ripped & dirty just like the rest of us. -Jack Applin Kandor
