[net.comics] DC -- announced plans

moriarty@uw-june (Jeff Meyer) (03/05/84)

A few notes on DC... apparently they are planning a whole series of
handbooks (quite like Marvel Universe), while they are also coming out with
a series (actual stories) about the DC Universe (wonder if they'll create a
Watcher?). Also, something is coming out called "Super Powers", which
sounds a lot like the Secret Wars, except I'm not sure if it's going to
change the major characters much.

Also coming up this summer, Superman's 400th issue with a cover by Chaykin
(it looks great!), and art by all sorts of people who haven't ever drawn
Supes. By the way, how is Eliott S. Maggin doing in Superman these days?
(comments please!).

If you'd like more information on these subjects, I'd suggest reading the
Comics Reader, the only fanzine which is still fun to read, and does not
cause indigestion (like the Comics Journal, Pretention capital of the
western world). They've got a whole list of new titles (avec artwork)....

"Moran! I've finally decided... go take Gary Groth for a ride!"
