Does anyone know if Spidey will change his costume on either the syndicated comic strip or the saturday morning cartoon ?? Might as well post to the net. Len Armstrong St. Joseph's University {astrovax | bpa | burdvax | allegra}!sjuvax!armstron

Will Spidey change his costume everywhere? It's more likely that the all-black costume will be relegated to the closet. I don't really think Marvel will give up one of its most recognizable symbols for long. When I first saw a story in the fan press about the costume, someone at Marvel (Shooter?) was evasive about whether the costume would stay around forever. I give it no more than six months after the Secret Wars series is concluded. (Maybe the magic costume can change its colors. It seems to do everything else.) This is like DC giving up the Robin costume. They couldn't take Dick Grayson out of the short pants, the licensing is to great an incentive to leave him as was. Finally, someone came up with the idea of giving Batman a new partner to wear the costume. The more things change ... -- Tim Tjarks AT&T Bell Laboratories ihnp4!ihlts!tjarks

The new Spidey costume shows up on Marvel's letterhead stationery, in place of the old one. You can see it in Marvel Age, in the letter Jim Shooter sent to Dick Giordano about the inaccurate report in DC Comics about Marvel's price increase. Mike Ciaraldi ciaraldi@rochester
