[net.comics] Enough Already!!

<I don't understand it, I'm just following suit (line eater)>

First and foremost, let me state a few things. I have been a reader
of net.comics for about a year now. For quite a while I was on approximately
30-35 net.<generic> mailing lists. I am now on 2. The main reason I stuck/
stick with net.comics, is the fact that the medium is constantly changing
(eg. you have new comics each week, each rag (read: magazine/comic) has a new
or newly twisted plot each month). Therefore net.comics does not draw out
into net.marvel, or net.DC, similar to when net.auto became (could still be
for all I know) net.airbags. This debate about political/religious prefer-
ences/differences should be moved to net.religion,net.politics,net.flame or
somewhere where it is WANTED or NEEDED. I want to read about comics when I
read net.comics, I don't want to read 3 or 4 people debating religious ideas.
I want to read people's opinions on comics, on artists, on plots, but NOT
six weeks worth of garbage and arguing back and forth about anti-this, or
anti-that. Perhaps we should consider making a subgroup out of comics. We
could call it NET.COMICS.DEBATE, and then whenever people insist on dragging
out a subject for too long, we ask them to move it NET.COMICS.DEBATE (which
if tendency follows suit, they won't do).

A second comment, someone (I don't want to re-wade through this
whole pile of **** to find the exact quote) took offense to an issue of CA
(Captain America) where an elderly gentlemen was called "Old Jew". I've
been reading comics since I was 9, and looking back on it, and looking
forward to having my own kids, I am extremely glad, for the younger gen-
eration reading comics, that the quote WASN'T "OLD KIKE"!! Just remember,
just as 12 year olds can break into computers, they can read comics, and
formulate their own ideas from what is in these comics. "Old Jew" makes
people realize that there are prejudiced people out there in the world
(there we go again proving that comics aren't just for entertainment), but
without going overboard in their display of prejudice. Would you rather
have an innocent nine year old ask "Are you Jewish", or would you prefer
him/her asking you "Are you a KIKE!"

Now that I've done the same thing I spent my whole first paragraph
doing (gawd! it's contagious), I think I'll put on my asbestos pajamas and
wait for the "heat"....
