I hadn't caught the Madelyne Pryor business until I saw it mentioned in print sometime ago (I forget where); it had been a fairly long time between the AVENG- ERS ANNUAL #10 and Maddy's first appearance in the X-Men (#168), and I didn't recall the kid in AA. There's definitely something fishy going on; I am of the opinion that Maddy *is* a reincarnation of Jean Grey, or at least that her spir- it had possessed the body of Maddy. ****!!WARNING!! IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE NEW MUTANTS #18, YOU !!WARNING!!**** ****!!WARNING!! MIGHT NOT WANT TO READ ANY FARTHER !!WARNING!!**** Another clue: In THE NEW MUTANTS #18, we meet a red-headed telepath named Rachel who seems to be from the future. She claims that *her mother* and Xavier taught her how to control her powers. This is obviously the same Rachel from X-MEN #141-142 who was Franklin Richards' wife/girlfriend/significant-other and helped send Katherine Pryde-Rasputin's (they must be going to patch things up, eh?) consciousness back to the present in those issues. A few years ago, at a comic con in Boston, when I asked Claremont who the Rachel in #141-142 was, he said that she was intended to be Scott and Jean's daughter, but that he would have to come up with something different since Jean had to be killed off. As I mentioned in a previous posting, I believe that Scott and Maddy will soon (maybe issue #200?) have a daughter who they'll name Rachel. BTW, Rachel makes in mysterious comment in TNM #18 about Illyana, saying that she is (now) the same age that she was/will be [isn't time travel wonder- ful?] when she is killed. I wonder if her magic will keep her from aging (wheth- er by intent or by side-effect). --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC Maynard) UUCP: (decvax!decwrl!rhea!akov68!boyajian) ARPA: (decwrl!rhea!akov68!boyajian@Shasta)
