Some interesting items from the 20 April issue of THE COMIC BUYER'S GUIDE: (1) NBM (formerly Flying Buttress, publishers of the book MILT CANIFF, REMBRANDT OF THE COMIC STRIP) will, supposedly starting in June, release hardcover volume reprints of the entire Caniff run of "Terry and the Pirates". There will probab- ly be 12 volumes altogether, costing about $30 each. the first volume will con- tain the first Sunday strip sequence, which introduces The Dragon Lady. (2) WARP and MARS are going bimonthly, on an alternating schedule, starting with WARP #17 and MARS #11. (3) Comico is picking up THE ELEMENTALS, one of the two announced titles from the now-defunct Texas Comics. they hope to have the first issue out by the San Diego Comic Con (which is 28 June - 1 July). (4) Roy Thomas plans to end ARAK with #50, not that I care, since I don't read it, but some of you netters might be interested to know. ***** To answer a question posted in the latest net.comics: the relation between Made- lyne Pryor and Steeleye Span is that the female member of Span is named Made- leine Prior. Claremont seems to be fond of that sort of thing. I was amused by his naming the White Queen *Emma* Frost, since the whole Hellfire Club business seems to be inspired by the "A Touch of Brimstone" episode of the British tv show THE AVENGERS, in which the Hellfire Club kidnaps Emma Peel and makes her their Black Queen (this was one of two episodes that were never shown on network tv here, but only in syndication. The kinky outfit that Diana Rigg wore was most likely too much for the censors). <trivia quiz: Does anyone know which other episode was similarly banned? It also had to do with what Ms. Rigg was wearing.> See you all in a week and a half! --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC Maynard) UUCP: (decvax!decwrl!rhea!akov68!boyajian) ARPA: (decwrl!rhea!akov68!boyajian@Shasta)
