[net.comics] Re : jayembee's article on the bikini

good point about the bikini, jayembee.... though comics do seem to be
a bit prudish at times (often), there is no excuse for random nudity just
for the sake of nudity. You don't see guys costumes being ripped off at the
jock-strap, nor should you. By the same token, there is no need to show
a little gratuitous titty in a battle. Heroes are supposed to have their
dignity, and they should have it especially in battle... that's what sets
them apart from the run-of-the-mill slime-balls that they fight. I also
wouldn't want my little brother to be reading comics where female heroes
are stripped in the first hit of the battle.
my thoughts are a little different about sex in comics... sex is a normal
human function, and it is assinine to assume that all heroes would be
abstemous, nor should they be. But that doesn't mean that they should print
Hustler versions of comics to answer that vital question "What would sex be
like with Wonder Woman?" I think that subtle references like Kori and Dick
waking up together are fine....

                        randomly yours,
