I ran into Denny O'Neill the other day (also Dave
Cockrum and Steve Skeates). They wweere at a local comics
shop before going to a convention.

Since someone on the net brought it up, I asked Denny the
following question:
"Ten years ago we thought of you as part of the peace-love, etc.
generation, full of social consciousness, and so on.
What are you doing editing 'G.I.Joe'?"

He replied (after saying, "I was afraid someone would ask that.")
that he didn't really consider G.I.Joe a military
war-oriented comic, but more like "Mission Impossible".
He said he still wouldn't want to write it, and that even editing
it sometimes bothers him, but not enough to
transfer it to another editor.

I said "fair enough", which I meant. I hope I reproduced
what he meant accurate,y.

B.T.W.:
Dabve Cockrum says he will be doing more "Futurians" stuff
when he gets some free time. He is working on a mini-series
now (I forgot which one, sorry!).

Steve Skeates has been working on several projects recently,
but is disappointed that not many have seen print yet.
Next one out will be a "Spider-Ham" , continuation of
the character from "Marvel Tails".
I told him that some people complained that the first story
was too much like a straight Spider-Man story, and he said
that he was trying to be more "Barksian" in the new ones.
He also said he wanted to avoid what "Captain Carrot" did,
where all the names are jokes, because he felt this interfered
with the story.
