(This line eaten by the Ambush Bug) Just thought I'd register my comments about the most recent Legion annual. While Swan is far from being my most favorite artist, I actually enjoyed his art this issue. Perhaps (No, strike that-- definitely) Tangual's inking had something to do with it. And given Swan's historical influence on this strip, it was appropriate he do an annual or two, especially with Giffen's harried schedule. (I've become acclimated to Giffen's new style, even though I still hate it when compared to what he used to do.) I really enjoyed the story--which is natural since Mordru is one of my favorite villains in all comics. (Guess who my AD&D 10th level mage is named after? [:-)] ) I also like the way Mysa's history with Mordru is tied in here, as well as in her origin in the Mando LSH. What is my reaction to Validus's origin? FANTASTIC!!! I love all the little "Secret Origins" that have been tied into this comic over the years (Universo being a fallen Green Lantern, Time Trapper as a Controller, etc.). The fact that Validus is Garth and Imra's son is really so obvious (except for the time difference) that I'm surprised no one thought of it before. "Mental Lightning" seemed so bizzare at the time, but now... I did like the suggestion I saw in a letter column some years ago that speculated Validus was a Controller's "weapon", but find this final explanation vastly superior. One question. Where did Darkseid come from? I don't remember precisely what happened to him after the Darkness Saga, but I seem to recall the resolution was of a more permanent nature. Anyone want to refresh my memory? Scott Berry
