[net.comics] Dargaud and the Graphic Novel

advisor@utcsstat.UUCP (Justin Bur) (07/26/84)

Dargaud's New York office has moved out of New York: it has been at
2 Lafayette Court, Greenwich, CT 06830 for a while now. And although
the company was Dargaud International Publishing Ltd. in New York, it
is Dargaud Publishing International Ltd. in Greenwich. Dargaud does
strange things. (Since when are companies "Ltd." in the USA?)

Along with translations of French comics, they are publishing Beetle
Bailey in Asterix format. (In France, Dargaud is doing the same with
Peanuts and Hagar.) On the back cover of one of the Beetle Bailey books
are pictures of the covers of four other Dargaud books (one Asterix, one
Lucky Luke, one more Beetle Bailey, and one in a new series to be trans-
lated from French, Leonard (a genie)). These books are referred to as
"graphic novels"!
