[net.comics] Team-up Contest AND Power Lists

harry@ucbvax.ARPA (Harry I. Rubin) (09/02/84)

Some of these lists have included both Dr. Strange and Dr. Fate,
with different ratings. Since these seem to be the master sorcerers
of the Marvel and DC universes, it would be very interesting to see
some sort of interaction between them. There are several possibilities,
to list a few:
> a battle; this would settle the question of who is more powerful.
> comparing methods, power sources, types of magic, limitations, etc.
I don't follow either character, but have been expositions of why
magic works for either of these guys?
Could they learn anything from each other?
> cooperation. This raises the interesting question "could the boys pool
their magic?" If not, they can try to find other ways to help each other.
  See item 2 above.

I'd love to hear other ideas; post 'em.

How about a universal mighty-mage convention. Who should attend besides
Strange and Fate?
Strange's disciple-and-lover from a while ago (I forget her name),
Margali Szardos and Amanda Sefton,
Mirth the World Mage from the comic Mage (an excellent comic, by the way),
Zatana and her father,
Johnny Thunder and his Thunderbolt (Johnny Something...),
Jason Blood aka The Demon Etrigan (I met him in DC Presents #66),
the White Witch of the Legion,
Magick aka Illyana Rasputin,
Agatha Harkness of FF,
Wanda the Scarlet Witch,
didn't the JLA once fight a guy named Faustus, descended from the Faustus
written about by Gothe and Marlowe? If I recall, he eventually
decided to go straight. Is he now a magical good guy? If so, he
	should attend.
Baron Winter of Night Force?
Probably more. Waddaya think? More ideas? Post 'em.

"Didn't the JLA fight someone named Faustus?"

In an early issue they fought Felix Faust.
I remember reading this isssue many many years ago, and the image
that stayed in my mind was the JLAers chained to the oars of
a ship, rowing across the Universe.

old Felix has shown up several times since then, but
I don't recall him going straight.

First, Dr. Strange's disciple/lover was named "Clea"

From the DC universe, you're forgetting:

The sorcerers from the Sorcerer's Planet
(where the White Witch was trained)

	[Are we including bad guys?]
If so, how about Mordru, the (supposedly) ultimate bad guy
sorcerer? (If he was good enough for Darkseid...)

Mages of the universe?
How about:

The Spectre
Shaman
Ms. Mystic (from what I have seen from two issues...)
Agatha Harkness, and her fun crew from New Salem
