Screech!!!! (Greetings in Parakeetese)
We were going through our collections the other day
and noticed that, indeed, Surtur has appeared in Thor
in more than just curses.
175 The fall of Asgard
176 Inferno
177 God vs. god
Those are the issues. The Surtur that appears in them is no where
near as menacing (in my opinion) as he/she/it does in the current
issues of Thor. In the current story, I get the impression that
these 3 issues are just being ignored.
True, in these older stories Surtur is an unstoppable, red,
horny guy. I got a real laugh when the Asgardian militia pulled
out their "freezing ray" to fight him/her/it.
Have you ever noticed that if you flip over the rt in Surtur
that you get ...ta.da... Sulfur!!! Isn't that clever!
