When reading the Oct. 26th issue of the Comic Buyer's Guide, I read that Marvel is working on a new, direct-buyer magazine called THE X-FACTOR (it is not on the schedule yet, but... well, read on). It will re-unite all the members of the old X-Men team, who apparently are not too thrilled with how the Prof is handling the New (well, to some...) X-Men and the New Muties. Now the shocker: Chris Claremont will NOT be scripting the book! Hold onto your socks, folks: Bob Layton will be plotting and inking, over Jackson Guice's pencils. Having seen Jackson's work, this sounds like a good idea. Layton will be working closely with Claremont, and the book is supposed to be very interweaved with XM and NM plots (as well coordinated as Marvel continuity gets, anyway...). The Buyer's guide mentions that it will probably be out no earlier than late next summer. Apparently, other mags will soon be altering to allow this to take place (I guess that means the Defenders get a revamp...). PS They said that the members would include Scott's Wife... no idea if that means if Jean is back or not :-). Whew! Never knew the journalism game could be so hot!
