About NM: I'm starting to get used to Sienkewicz (that's close), which is probably a bad sign. I think Warlock is a pretty neat character, but I get the feeling he was introduced just so Mr. S. could have something wierd to draw. I thought the stuff about Sam's shirt was REALLY funny, especially since I'd just read the NM Annual. I thought that was one of the funniest mags I've read in a long time. There's a point where the rock singer has Sam dressed up in a new-wavish/S&M/leather fashion (complete with earrings and spiked bracelets), and when Roberto sees him, he says something (seemed serious) to the effect of "How dare they torture you like this! I'll tear them apart." X-Men 190: Things are getting wierd, folks. The way some of the traditional bad guys are acting is pretty interesting. Other than that, I thought this issue sucked. A couple of us have decided that X-Men has become popular, and everyone knows that a popular market degrades quality. (So some of you, STOP reading this title :-)). I'd like to see Magneto dragged from the subplot in NM into this one. Begin: (Issue-200-speculation#23) Phoenix will be back, but their going to bring Sienkewicz in to draw her, so we won't recognize her. I also read a couple of "what if's?" this week. Of course, one of them was "What if Phoenix had not died?" The usual sort of ending for a what-if, I suppose. It was a pretty reasonable story, though. Another one was called "What If?" It was a real spoof, though. It has The Watcher on the front saying "Please, don't buy this." It has things like "what if the FF had been bananas?" and has a frame or two exploring the possibilities. The funniest sequence is a couple of pages, entitled "What if everyone who was ever an Avenger was still an Avenger?" There's a holdup at a convenience store, and the whole bunch of them assemble. Good stuff. -- Randwulf (Randy Haskins); Path= genrad!mit-eddie!rh
