Rick's homeless informant Alice alluded to Zonker and Uncle Duke as her two connections to reality. Does anyone remember if we've met Alice before and what her connection is with Zonker and Duke? Please mail responses to me and I'll submit a summary. I don't know how long you have been following Doonsebury, but Alice first appeared as a bar fly at a bar where Zonker worked to pay off some fertilizer bills that his plants charged to him when he was Lt. Gov of Samoa. She always referred to him as "Bonker" and was a simpathetic poor working class person. She then resurfaced when Duke was down and out in Washington (I'm not at all sure how she ended up there) and gave Duke the idea and the money to try and produce "The John Deloreon Story" out in Hollywood. I hope this helped. OZ seismo!rlgvax!oz

When Duke was hiding out from the law (I think after he, uh, resigned as coach of the Redskins) he met Alice on the street. She was the one that suggested that he do a movie deal on DeLorean and lent him the dime to call an agent... Funny how Garry keeps recycling these characters around in very unexpected ways... *grin* chuq -- From the ministry of silly talks: Chuq Von Rospach {allegra,cbosgd,decwrl,hplabs,ihnp4,seismo}!nsc!chuqui nsc!chuqui@decwrl.ARPA Do not wait until tomorrow to tell someone you care. (Mail didn't work!) I'm not sure about Duke and Alice. But Zonker worked in a bar that Alice hung around. Maybe she met Duke through Zonker then? Marguerite (*not* Allen!) ...!ihnp4!iwpbd!maggie2

Wasn't Alice the bag lady that came up with the idea for the 'John DeLorian story' for Duke? -- Ron Christian (Watkins-Johnson Co. San Jose, Calif.) {pesnta, twg, ios, qubix, turtlevax, tymix}!wjvax!ron
