I have been following the discussion of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" in net.comics, and decided to take the plunge and buy my first DC's in many a year. So I bought issue #2 of Crisis, and also the latest issue of the highly recommended (by local people and on the net) New Teen Titans. Now what I need is a crash summary of the DC universe for the last 10 years. Let me see if I remember some things. Earth-1 is the Earth where the main DC titles occur ("our" Superman, Batman, the JLA, etc.), right? Earth-2 is, as I recall, the world where the stories published in the 40's occured (a Superman, The Batman, the JSA, the Flash with the WWI helmet). What are the rest of the Earths, and how do they fit in? I'd also like to know what's been happening with the major characters. What are Superman, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen (is his mother still making coffee commercials? :-)), and Perry White doing these days? Is Clark Kent still working for a great metropolitan TV station? How many people now know that Clark and Superman are the same (I saw a story several years ago where some kid knew)? Who's in the JLA these days? Batman and Robin seem to have split; is there a new Robin, or is Batman going it alone? One final question, what are the best DC titles? Are there any up to the quality of the long lamented (my back issues are elsewhere!) Phoenix issues of the X-Men? Thanks. -- Paul Schinder Astronomy and Astrophysics Center University of Chicago uucp: ..!ihnp4!oddjob!paul
