For those of you who missed Ithacon 10 last week.....

Wed., May 8: An open forum, where Wendy and Richard will answer questions
from the audience. 3:00 PM, The Kiva, Baldy Hall, UB Amherst Campus.

Thurs.,May 9: Book signing from 11 AM - 1 PM, Talking Leaves Bookstore,
3144 Main St., Buffalo, NY.

For those of you who have ELFQUEST #21, and wondering about the ElfQuest
class here, the photo was from last year's class, when they were here, and
when I knew nothing of the Quest. On the recommendation of a friend, I am
taking it this year. The instructor, Michael F. Hopkins (writer of the
Pini's interview in AMAZING HEROES #38, and also a few letters which appeared
in ELFQUEST #15 and #16), delves into some of the deeper levels of the Quest,
touching on various myths, folktales, and prejudices.

On a slightly different note, I rate Epic's ELFQUEST #1 a B+ on the
Moriarty scale. The main problem is the coloring. I think they should
have used the Flexographic press (for brighter colors), like Marvel is
using for their TRANSFORMERS title, and DC is using for their limited
series. Are they using Mando paper? My 2 copies looked rather dingy.
Perhaps they should have used Baxter paper, but to do so would price it
out of the traditional newsstand market. Also, on page 16, Moonshade does
NOT have dots for eyes!! (High ones forbid!)

(The original, WaRP versions rate a solid A. The color volumes I rate an A+,
but the Donning Press distribution system has much to be desired.)

How good are you at SPSS? Are you proficient in C? How's your FORTRAN?
Have you worked with IMSL? Do you know Kimball?"
