Has anyone noticed the references to Apple and Macintosh technology in the Shatter story in Jon Sable #27? The last reference is more understandable than the first, so I'll describe them in reverse order. In the last frame of the story, the computer on the right hand side definitely has a small Apple symbol on its side (Is that trademark infringement?). In about the fourth page of the story, the "Cyan girl" or "Strawberry Alarmclock" as she later calls herself, speaks into a machine clearly labeled in two frames "Dynabook." The Macintosh/Lisa-style icon-based interface with mouse was inspired by the work of Alan Kay, Adele Goldberg, and the Xerox Learning Research Group at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). The folks at PARC have a goal of creating a powerful, notebook-size personal computer, about the size of the one pictured in the story, with the name (betcha can't guess) "Dynabook." Has anyone else been noticing these references? Are there others? -- Mark Guzdial {ihnp4, houxm}!nvuxf!markg (201) 949-5471
