Since other folks have posted the Rumor regarding the X-FACTOR fith member,
I might as well explain the details as I heard them.
The whole thing is based on the "fact" that Phoenix *never was* Jean Grey.
Jean has been in suspended animation at the bottom of Long Island Sound ever
since the Starcore shuttle crashed there in #101. What Phoenix *was* wasn't
explained to me, but I assume that she was just some sort of psychokinetic
"clone" (for want of a better word) of Jean Grey.
This makes everything nice and tidy for The Shitter. He can make everyone
happy by bringing back Jean Grey, while at the same time, not compromise his
principles about Phoenix paying for her crimes.
Blechh!!!
If it was only a matter of screwing around with Scott and Jean, I probably
wouldn't mind so much, but I like the character of Maddy too much to see
*her* fucked over because of this.
Now, how about we get up a collection to hire an assassin...
