My guess as to the "villain" in this piece is none other than PROFESSOR IVO !! First, it would have to be someone from the JLA's past-- he attacked the Tornado Twins (guess DC ISN'T forgetting them, Jerry) because he had a grudge against the Flash. Since the Flash is now dead... None of the other "targetted" heroes' relatives are descended from any of the "new" JLA. In fact, Hawkman is (I believe) the only one of the "begrudged" heroes that wasn't an original member. Second, it would have to be someone with a desire for immortality and a penchant for creating powerful robots. Of the early (and long-time) JLA foes, Prof. Ivo is the only one who springs to mind with an obsession about immortality. Recall in his first appearance, he created Amazo to steal various long-lived animals in order to learn the "secret of longevity". While Ivo's recent appearances are somewhat blurred in my memory, Amazo alone could represent "creating powerful robots". Other possibilities could include T. O. Morrow (not necessarily known for robots alone but for "future" technology in general) and Hector Hammond (immortal but not "into" robots). SJBerry ..!ihnp4!hou2g!scott

Yes, I agree, it's probably Ivo. Interesting thing, though... apparently the robot has succeeded in killing off one of Green Lantern's descendants somewhere along the line. There is also an implication that Bats, Hawkman and the others will all have kids (so far none of the characters in the DC Universe mainline have had offspring. 'bout time, no?). How is Flash going to sire any kids? (SPOILER WARNING, IN REVERSE:) won daed s'eh ecnis. True, there is a period in the 30th century during which he has an opportunity (with Iris, no less!); does this mean the Tornado Twin's are his direct chil- dren? (as opposed to being N-th generation grandkids?). Interesting... -- -Bernie Roehl (University of Waterloo) ...decvax!watmath!wateng!broehl

Now just hold on one cotton pickin' second!!! Who says the Flash is dead??!! Was his demise really presented as being all that concrete in Crisis? I, for one, am not yet ready to write off the Scarlet Speedster! Chuck
