From: Mike Ciaraldi <ciaraldi> Whoops, got cut off.... The rest of the bookshelf: Method to the Madness Rabbit Tales Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy 50 Ways to Serve a Unicorn Works of Barry Smith History of the Federation Kid Comics Kidding Comics All in Color for a Bajar Shilling Romwald vs. The State History of the Comics by Steranko, Vol. 1 the same, Vol. 2 the same, Vol. 3 A Pictorial Guide to Bob Violence Some of these may actually be real, and maybe my fellow netters can tell me. Certainly the Hitchhikers Guide exists, and I think the Harryhausen book as well (he's the man who did all those Sinbad movies with stop-motion animation). Mister A is by Ditko, but I don't think it was ever collected into book form (although the stories are being reprinted with other Ditko stuff by Fantagraphics). Rabbit Tales exists in the story itself. "Bajar Shilling" refers to Starstruck, I suppose. "Bob Violence" is from American Flagg. But my favorite is the Steranko trilogy. I have had the first two volumes for over ten years, and have long given up waiting for the succeeding volumes, of which there were supposed to be many. His projected three-volume Encyclopedia of Comic Book Heroes never even published a first volume. Maybe they will come out around the same time as The Last Dangerous Visions and the second half of Howie Chaykin's adaptation of Alfred Bester's The Stars My Destination. Or maybe the JLA-Avengers teamup...... Mike Ciaraldi seismo!rochester!ciaraldi
