There are three interesting articles in the October 25 issue of Comic Buyer's Guide: 1) "Byrne to revamp Superman" Superman Vol.2 #1 will be written and illustrated by John Byrne in July, 1986. There will be substantial changes: his foster parents are still alive, he'll be more human (therefore, vulnerable), and he *will* be the *sole* survivor of Krypton. The first six issues of the new title will be released on a bi-weekly basis and all other Superman titles will be done in concert with the main series. Byrne will continue to do 'The Fantastic Four' and 'The Incredible Hulk' but added "there are a half a dozen DC titles that I'd like to play with, but unless something happens to affect the work I'm doing at Marvel, I won't have time." *1 2) "Howard Chaykin to do 'Shadow', 'Wolverine', 'Times^2' Howard Chaykin's next project as a writer and artist will be 'The Shadow', a four part mini-series for DC. It will be a direct-sales- only book on Baxter paper. The rest of the 'American Flagg!' team will also contribute to it. His next work will be for Marvel entitled 'The Scorpion Connection', a graphic novel featuring Wolverine and Nick Fury. Howard will then do 'Times^2' for First which will be three graphic novels appearing every 5 or 6 months. Each book, after the first, will be a sequel but will also stand on its own. *2 3) "Comico schedules 'Jonny Quest' for 1986" It's slated for a summer 1986 release date. No creative team has been announced. *3 Joe Barone, {allegra, decvax!brunix, linus, ccice5}!rayssd!m1b Raytheon Co, Submarine Signal Div., Box 330, Portsmouth, RI 02871 PS: It's been a while since I did any footnoting, so bear with me! ____________ *1) Hopkins, Michael F., CBG #623, October 25, 1985, pp. 1,3. *2) Pachter, Richard A., CBG #623, October 25, 1985, pp. 1,3. *3) CGB #623, October 25, 1985, p. 1.
