The following is pure speculation on my part and I sincerely hope Shooter never sees this: It may inspire him! The reason why there won't be a Secret Wars III is because Shooter intends to give the Beyonder his own title: 'Beyonder Team-Up'. It would be published weekly, spin off new titles and limited series every month (e.g. 'The Beyonder Universe', 'The Amazing Beyonder', 'One From Beyond', ad nauseum...), and would team the Beyonder up with the most popular (by sales) character in the Marvel Universe (Wolverine will be seen a lot). To keep a competitive edge on the book, it will only cost $1.25 (once in a while) and every other one will be a Special Issue (note caps) at a mere $1.50. The Special Issues would kill off the guest star for several pages, then the Beyonder would make him/her get better in the most poignant fashion. Once two billion copies are printed of each issue, the plates will be destroyed insuring that the title will become a collector's item. Jim Shooter, what a guy!
