[net.comics] Superman revamp makes NBC Nightly News

The mass media has taken notice! The last segment of NBC Nightly News
(with Tom Brokaw) on Monday (11/4/85) was about the upcoming revamp of
Superman. The segment started by noting Superman's "age" (50 years),
and how he has lost touch with the comics public (cut to 10-second
quote from 12-year-old kid essentially saying, "Yeah, he's boring...").
And then *the line*: "This looks like a job for John Byrne!" (ARRGH!)
30-seconds-or-so of JB talking about making Superman "human," and a
mention that Clark Kent will shed his wimp image (something about
"a taste for white wine and brie"), and, oh, yes, he and Lois aren't
romantically involved anymore... end of report.
(Then cut to Tom, boyish smirk on his face, a slight suppressed giggle,
turns to camera, and signs off... it's the same *every time!* Oops,
 I'm getting off the subject.)
