[net.comics] The demise of Swamp Thing

rs@mirror.UUCP (12/06/85)

I don't know how much of this is new info, but I haven't seen it on the
net, so...

Marvel and Moore are planning on ending Swamp Thing around issue 62 or
64. Moore will write until the end, and then move on to DC Presents,
and possibly Superman [Huh?]. The last issue will be a double-size.
In issue 50, Swampy will go to Hell, again, and all DC supernatural
characters will be involved: Phantom Stranger, Deadman, Spectre,
Demon, etc. This, too, will be double-size.

Bissette and Totleben will take a break from drawing Swamp Thing after
the current issue (#46, a real good issue, BTW). They will be back for
the finale, and may step in for a coulpe of other issues separately.
Other artists schedule to take up the slack include Joe Orlando, Stan
Woch and Gene Colan.

This info comes from an article in the New England Comics newsletter.
It is based on info Bissette gave during his half-day stay at their
Boston store.

As a totally unrelated aside, I remember Moriarity asking if the demand
for Miracleman was artificial. Well, according to New England Comics,
Eclipse sold almost half their press run directly to "speculators" so
that retail stores could not order any additional copies. Sigh. (PS:
MiracleMan 3 has a cover by Chaykin.)

My God, Shooter is everywhere!

That's strange, considering that DC Presents is scheduled to be canceled
before then.
