                     VORTEX NEWS and Other Stuff

MISTER X number six will feature the debut of the new creative
team. The pencils will be handled by the enigmatic gentleman known
only as Seth and inked by newcomer William Diamond.
"I'm very excited about the artistic direction these fellows will
be taking the book in", says series creator Dean Motter. "Seth and
William have managed to capture the atmosphere and spirit of Mister X
perfectly - without once resorting to imitating the previous artists.
I don't think our readers will be disappointed at all.
The change of artits from the previously announced team of Klaus
Schonefeld and Ty Templeton was necessitated by Klaus' sudden move to
Austria and Ty's return to Stig's Inferno. (See announcement below.)

[Klaus Schonefeld has since returned from Austria, but as far as I
know, will be drawing only Kelvin Mace for Vortex - slr]

Motter will continue on as writer, editor, and art director of the
series. Beginning with issue seven Mister X will be featuring guest
artists alternating with Motter on the covers. The first confirmed
artist is Howard Chaykin. Other notable illustrators, both in and
outside of the comic book field, have expressed interest and will be
 announced as they are confirmed.
"We will also be re-instating 'Tales from Somnopolis' by guest
artists and writers as space permits," says Motter. "These stories
will vary in length and nature. Some will feature characters from
the main continuity - some won't. The common link is, of course,
that they will all concern life in Radiant City."

KELVIN MACE number one sold out much to everyone's amazement!
"We expected good sales." said publisher Marks, "but not that good."
"This is the best selling black and white book we've ever had."
Illustrator Klaus Schonefeld will write and draw the book, cur-
rently scheduled for quarterly publication. "We can probably look
forward to an even more Neo-Teutonic influence", says Bill Marks.
With the second issue, due in January, Kelvin Mace will be in
 full color.

THOSE ANNOYING POST BROS. number three continues Matt Howarth and
Lou Stathis' heartwarming tale of senseless violence and mindless
 brutality in Bugtown.

VORTEX magazine resumes regular publication with issue twelve
under the guiding hand (or gauntlet, as it were) of none other that
Lou Stathis, former editor of Heavy Metal magazine and current co-
creator of 'Those Annoying Post Brothers'.
Expect a somewhat more contemporary appreach to the work that will
see print in 'Vortex'; "Somewhere between 'Cerebus' and 'Raw'", says
 publisher Bill Marks.
Issue twelve will feature work by Sam Keith, Gary Wray and Brian
 Ridell.

STIG'S INFERNO creator Ty Templeton, after a brief hiatus and
Spanish vacation, is back in the saddle. With issue five Stig's
 Inferno also resumes regular publication.

JOURNEY, by Bill Loebs, will have its early issues reprinted by
Fantagraphics this summer. The first issue is particularly hard to
 find.

LOVE & ROCKETS Book Two will also be published in summer, re-
printing issues three and four of the regular magazing.

ELECTRIC WARRIOR #1, by Moench and Baike, will ship January 21.
The warriors of the title are robot, cop-like characters used for
communication with the lower strata of a futuristic society.

WONDER WOMAN, for the first time in her 43 year history, will
have her title drawn by a woman. Trina Robbins will draw and co-
plot a four-issue mini-series scheduled to debut in January.

NEXUS #22, shipping in March, will be drawn by Keith Giffen.

GRIMJACK #24, the second anniversary issue, will feature original
Grimjack artist Tim Truman and Paul Smith. Each will illustrate a
new story, and the issue will also reprint the first Grimjack story,
Mortal Gods, form Starslayer #10 and #11.

"I think it could have been done at Marvel, but it was more readily
accepted by the Epic audience because the titles are a litte bit more
experimental." -- Butch Guice on SWORDS OF THE SWASHBUCKLERS
