just finished reading thor 367. now i know why they drew thor with a beard in the last issue of secretion wars ii. i guess its safe to say that the real balder was NOT at the coronation. its easy to tell who is really who if you re-read the comic a thousand times (but I WON'T TELL). regarding the discussion about odin. it is obvious that odin is not dead. otherwise thor would have inherited the odin-power. i think that odin will come back but he will come back as a butt-kicking god (i.e. come back "more powerful", ascended to a higher level, etc.). there is some "evidence" for this: 1) the way he fell down with surtur reminded me of the way gandalf fell into an abyss and was presumed dead (in the lord of the rings). and look at how he came back. 2) thor's adventure as leaders of the frogs has some parallels with odin's experience as the leader of the asgardians. and thor's comment about how "when next the frogs saw him, they would not recognize him" (paraphrasing), just seemed to stick in my mind as applying to odin as well. 3) as much as i dislike the introduction of the "Ones Who Sit In Darkness Above All" in one of those X-Annuals, i think that they will have a role in future Thor storylines. since odin MUST be the most powerful Asgardian, he must come back on at least their level. 4) finally (the most important reason), i wrote marvel about 5 years ago and complained about how they had screwed everything up with the way they had the celestials wipe up the planet with odin without so much as sweating. i said that they had to do something to restore the "old" power hierarchy. well they have messed things up even more with this secretion wars stuff but maybe they are listening to me.... danny chen ihnp4!hou2b!dwc
