[Tarim says it's clobbering time... O-) <-- Megaton Man on patrol] I'm surprised that the Comics Buyers' Guide is not running a repeat of last year's poll. (If they are, it's not being publicized as well as '84's. Maybe the poll was to get new subscribers. (Unfortunately I wasn't one of them -- $26 at one time seems like an awful lot of money :-) .) I'm also surprised that no one else is doing a similar poll on the net. With that in mind, I'd like to present.... THE 1985 USENET/RASTER-BLASTER AWARDS POLL !!! With a few slight exceptions, I will use the same categories (and rules) as in the 1984 CBG poll. Vote for yor favorite in each of the categories below. Only material cover-dated 1985 is eligible for consideration. Anyone on the net may copy and circulate this ballot, and any fan may vote only once and vote for no more than one nominee in each category. (Moriarty, I'm not sure how Henry Vogel's vote would be counted, given this restriction.) Ballot-box stuffing will result in the destruction (in this case, rm-ing) of all ballots involved. You need not vote in all categories. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= THE 1985 USENET/RASTER-BLASTER AWARDS POLL 1. Favorite Comic Book __________________________________________________ 6a. Favorite Story (writing) _____________________________________________ 6b. Favorite Story (art) _________________________________________________ (This category (Favorite Story) has now been partioned into two parts.) 7. Favorite Character ___________________________________________________ 9. Favorite Supporting Character ________________________________________ 10. Favorite Publication about Comics ____________________________________ (CBG is eligible this time around; you may also vote for a runner-up favorite publication if you so desire.) 11. Favorite Direct-Sale-Only Title ______________________________________ (Also known as the CBG Phil Seuling Award.) Name ________________________________ Age & Sex (optional) ______________ Comments __________________________________________________________________ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= With the age of most net readers above last year's poll median, I am expecting a "more mature" voting distribution (i.e. a greater percentage of direct-sale-only and adult comics). The deadline for entries will be March 15, at 00:00 GMT. (This may be extended to April 1 if there is sufficient demand.) Poll results will be posted on March 15, or shortly thereafter. A copy of the poll results may also be sent to leading comics publications, along with a brief explanation about what Usenet is. One last thing: My account name has recently changed from "acsgjjp" to "ugpoltr1" (That's ug-poltr-[one]). PLEASE send your votes to me using my new account name. Any votes to "acsgjjp" might be returned. -- ____ ^ ____ |_ _|/ \|_ _| Jim Poltrone (a/k/a Poltr1, \ \/ \/ / the Last of the Raster Blasters) \/ ^ \/ / / \ \ uucp: [decvax,watmath,rocksvax]!sunybcs!ugpoltr1 / /___\ \ ARPAnet: ugpoltr1%buffalo@CSNET-RELAY /___________\ csnet: ugpoltr1@BUFFALO _/ /_ _\ \_ BITNET: ACSGJJP@SUNYABVA, UGPOLTR1@SUNYBCS |_____| |_____|
