[net.comics] Comics Buyer's Guide catch-up

moriarty@fluke.UUCP (The Napoleon of Crime) (02/10/86)

I haven't mentioned goings-on in the Comic Buyer's Guide in a
while, so here's a few things:

Nice ads for both Eclipse comics (a silhouette of all the Eclipse
characters, apparently by Scott McCloud) and Chaykin's THE
SHADOW ("HE'S BACK... and God help the guilty.") The latter looks
so good, even in newsprint, that I almost wanted to hang it on the
wall of my office.

The EC MAD Comics (all 23) are being re-printed by Russ Cochran's
EC Library for the amazingly low price of $75 (color or B&W, your
choice). That is, if you order before Feb 28th, 1986. Then the
price goes up to $125 per set. Sounds like a deal to me.

Don Thompson is publishing reviews again, and he points out
Captain Confederacy as an extremely interesting comic (poor art,
tho'). He gives one quick word that Chaykin's SHADOW mini-series
is bloody excellent, which confirms suspicions that this could be a
very hot mover (remember, this guy was wasting scum before
Dirty Harry ever appeared on the scene (The Shadow, I mean, not Don
Thompson).

"They ought to make butt-flavored cat food."
