Someone on net.garden mentioned a box trap with a vent at the back that
is light shielded with a strip of tin. I have used this trap with some
success on the smaller gophers. The larger ones can't seem to get into
it. The trap is sold by GUARDIAN Gopher Trap Co.,

I bought mine at a Payless store near Portland Oregon.
As for gopher plants. I planted over a dozen two years ago. The gophers
kept pushing up their dirt. Two of these erruptions of dirt came up at
the base of mature gopher plants. Gopher plant seeds were also available
at Payless stores.
